Introduction to welding
Part A GTAW&PAW
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
Gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW) is also called TIG(tungsten inert gas), a kind of arc welding. GTAW/TIG uses non-expendable tungsten electrodes, inert or semi-inert shielding gas which is argon or mixed gas, as well as additional solder that usualy be seem as filler welding. This process has a stable electrical arc and high welding quality, especially for welding stainless steel.
Plasma Arc Welding (PAW)
The principle of plasma arc welding (PAW) is similar to that of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). The difference is the structure of the torch. Plasma arc welding (PAW) using a shrink-shaped nozzle, using two supply systems, one is ionized gas, the other is shielding. The plasma beam going through the shrink-shaped nozzle can concentate the heat and can get deeper penetration, higher melting rate and welding speed. The HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) of weld bead is relatively small compared to GTAW.
